Relaxin (RLN)

Source: It is produced from CL (major source) during pregnancy and important at parturition. It is also in some species from the placenta and uterus.
Functions of relaxin
- It causes the relaxation of the cervix and vagina at the time of parturition.
- It affects symphysis pubis.
- In guinea pigs, it causes the dissolution of symphysis pubis; separation of the symphysis pubis.
- It causes the relaxation of the birth canal.
- Parturition is impossible without RLN.
