Determination of coagulation time
Coagulation time
If blood is removed from the body and kept in a glass capillary tube or a test tube, it coagulates, forming a jelly-like mass. The time elapses between the withdrawal of blood and clot formation is the coagulation time. The drop method
- Make a deep skin puncture and take a drop of blood on a clean and dry glass slide.
- Draw a pin through the tube every 30 seconds.
- Note the time when fibrin threads adhere to the pin and move it out of the blood.
